3 Zazen-kai Evenings to Honor Rohatsu

How is Eido Roshi?

Jan 1, 2013: Eido Roshi spent 7 days fasting, water only. Although he was too weak to do zazen after the first day, he contined 6 more days. He says that is is more effective than 7-day sesshin. Advocates doing it once a year. The 3 evils are salt, water, oil (SOS)

With no attendant, he came to zazen-kai with no coat in the middle of winter... (December 2, 2012)

Due to Zen protocol, it's hard to find out how Eido Roshi is really getting on. Does Eido Roshi have any access to the two temples he founded? Can he come and go as he pleases at Shobo-ji and Hounzan Dai Bosatsu Zendo? Is he even welcome? Can Roshi visit at will the grave of his teachers? A piece of Soen Roshi's bone is enshrined at Shobo-ji. Will you be the one to announce that Eido Roshi has unlimited access to the two zendos he founded?

If you had dreamed of a time when Eido Roshi would be semi-retired, loved and pampered by his students, it's up to you to make it happen. It's time to get out your grandmother's secret recipe for lopsided muffins, make clumsy cookies, unskilled sumie ink drawings and other hand made ways to say what's in your heart.

If you can send money, please do it. Please remember Eido Roshi in your will. It must be hard adjusting to post-retirement income. Soen Roshi begged Gempo Roshi to give Teisho after his retirement.
